    APF Southern States results

Things went pretty much the way i had expected... i took 3rd with a 2264 total, Christian Simmons took 2nd with a 2403, and Dondell Blue took 1st with a 2443. Here is how my day went:

    Squat
    848 miss (called on depth)
    881 good
    903 miss (called on depth)

    Bench
    589 good
    622 good
    650 good

    Deadlift
    716 good
    733 good
    749 miss

    Total: 2264

All in all a good day with PR's in the squat and bench and PR total... felt strong enough to hit my 903 (it actually felt light) but I cut it. Everything felt good on the bench! My last deadlift I took to lockout, however I was shaking too bad and dropped it. Next goal: breaking 2300!

I know... I really wanted the 900. I had plenty of strength, but my form was off. I was squatting on my toes and leaning forward on my two misses... and missing my opener made me play it more conservative then I wanted to.

these are all approximates... but Dondell hit 950-975 squat, 760+ bench, 700+ deadlift. he lost it on the 1000+ squat otherwise he would of broke 2500. he also went for a 777 deadlift in order to break 2500 but missed. no matter what the dude is an insane lifter... one of the strongest dudes I've ever been around and he is built like a tank, he would do well as a bodybuilder.

Gary Franks put on a show and hit and EZ 850 bench for his opener and just couldn't lock out 935+ for a second attempt... it was so close! Gary is a freak of nature!!!

now that gary is doing bench only, i thinkhe will hit 1000lbs with some time as a master!amazing, yes dondell is strong, no mater how you put it.my only problem is lately i have been hearing people say he is a better lifter than ed coan, and i disagree with that, but for todays standards, he is one of the best out there in the 220's and 242's/

It's hard to compare anybody to Ed Coan. Dondell is a great lifter and a super nice guy... very humble in person! Gary is always fun to watch because he handles such huge weight so easily. I think Gary wants to be the first person to bench 900+ and pull 900+ in a full meet. If anybody can do it, it will be him... that will be an almost untouchable feat of strength.
