    Torn muscle, lower abs

Well, I suppose it was bound to happen at one time or another but unfortunately, its happened to me and mid-cycle at that

I was squatting this morning, first rep of the 4th set at a weight well within my limits. I was wearing a weight belt as well, which may have been part of the problem, I'm not sure. Made it all the way down to parallel when I felt a sharp pain and sort of a pop, like something let loose or shot through a hole in my extreme lower abs just to the right of and above my right nut. Thought for sure it was a hernia. I pushed the bar over my head and onto the pins and fell to the floor where I laid for about a half hour. It hurt to have my legs in any position other than bent at the knee like when you're doing crunches and it hurt to move much at all. I was carried to the PA's office on a stretcher where I was thoroughly checked out and diganosed as having possibly torn some muscle fibers. Thankfully, not a hernia. I can walk, sit, function pretty much ok but far from normal.

Anyone else experienced this and if so, how long did it take to recover? Squats and deadlifts are pretty much my core exercises and I depend on them for a lot of my strength and mass. Right now I'm wondering if I'll have to stay away from them for the next month, or more. I'm even considering ending my cycle and rolling into PCT but it just happened today so I'll probably give it a week before making that decision.

Anyway, if any of you have had this happen before please let me know what to expect with regard to recovery. I'm assuming its just a matter of time but how much is my big question.

    Thanks,
    Pac.

How are you feeling right now? The way you describe it makes it sound like a hernia for sure, i was doing leg-lifts for lower abs one time and i heard alittle pop on the way down, some pain and i thought it was a hernia also but it turned out to be a little pull. Be careful man and keep your stomach small, if your gut is big i think you will be more prone to getting a hernia or so.

The day after now and the feelings are a little 'clearer' than they were yesterday. Definitely feels like a bad muscle pull or tear. The little movements and moments of instability we all experience while doing something as simple as walking have become painful reminders that I need to pay a ridiculous amount of attention to how my leg moves. I can feel a pulling sensation from my extreme lower abs (as in, right next to my junk) to a short distance down the inside of my right leg. Sleeping last night was a real challenge. Tonight I may be hitting the flexeril.

So, now that I've defined it a little better, any idea what kind of time I'm looking at? Would this be classified as a bad groin pull (maybe only a dr. can answer that)? For those of you who have experienced this, did it compromise all of your lifts during recovery time? If I can still lift heavy for my upper body, I may continue my current cycle but if I'm restricted to just maintaining what I've gained so far, I'll probably end it and re-do the cycle later.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.
