    bench press comp. question.

I was wondering what would be a good press for bench press. I am considering doing a competition for the first time and am not sure what to expect in my group. I am 32 180 pounds and press 355: drug free also. This is with no shirt and I have no experience with a shirt also.

I've had the same question about a lot of my lifts...

What I did was find out what federation was holding the meet (USAPL for example) and look up results/records from past meets (http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/ is a good site for info to link to other sites). This was I'd look up results for the past couple meets and compare my lifts against other lifters who have competed in the past.

Sounds like you are ready...make sure you understand the comp rules when you compete (pausing when lifting, even extension, feet flat, ect...) USAPL is very strict on form and rules and especially now they are trying to become and Olympic sport. Good Luck

thanks, I get confronted by the same dudes at my gym for the past 4 years and I am finally going to give it a whirl when the next meet comes around. They tell me that I have great form as it is. I see them train and practice occasionally and I see the dedication and disipline it takes. I am hoping to push closer to 400 with diet and training! Thanks for the help and input!
