    Back Surgery

Ok heres the deal, back in june I hurt myself at work. Sortly hafter I was recommended to not lift for a while by my dr. I had an MRI done and it showed that I had 2 herniations 1 bulging disk severe spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disease in at least disks. Now as I stated before, I have not worked out since june. On December 21st I had back surgery, Micro Diskectory and decompression on two lefts, and both the right and left side. Do you think it is safe for me to start doing cardio and lifting weights again. Im so depressed I went from 215 with 11% bf to 185 with god only knows how much bf. I need to get back into shape. Also what sort of cycle would you recommend I take, if I you feel I can get back in the gym. I have a few cycles under my belt, the last being test e and eq 600 mg each ew along with 75 mg of tbol first 7 weeks and var 60 mg last 9 weeks. Thanks guys.

You're about 30 days out of a pretty extensive procedure. Before you went into surgery your doctor should have discussed a physical therapy plan.

A question or two for you:

How are you getting around? Are you on your feet?

If you're able to get around on your feet I would think something like a stationary bike would be beneficial for cardio. Weight wise I would really leave up to your doctor. If you really want to get started again I wouldn't recommend anything even remotely heavy lifting.

    Just my two cents.

I actually started my pt today, we did some a**ominal stabalizing exercises, some stretching, and then 5 mins on the reccumbent bike. I havent even asked my dr yet if I could lift. I am still in alot of pain and need to be treated accordingly, I dont want to start saying I wanna get back into lifting because he may get the idea that I am not in pain anymore or that I am just faking it for the pain meds. I can fight through pain, and feel I need to get back into the weightroom. But what is your suggestion dr sust. I feel you know both sides of this spectrum whereas dr's only look at the medical side. You on the other hand have medical knowledge and weight lifting knowledge so ill take your advice on a higher level than my dr when it comes to incorporating weight lifting in my life again.

My Dad Got Crushed In The Coal Mines....he Had To Have His Spine Reconstructed.....you Should Go Very Easy On You Back....once Its Messed Up...its Dang Near Impossible To Get It Right Again....now My Dads Spine Is Fused Together With Bone Frags And Metal.....just Go Easy....at Least Thats My Opinion....

for now, take it easy, do the PT, iknow it is novice stuff, but it helps, keep it up when PT is over, than lets start working on a program for you. but for now, enjoy the down time, how long is your PTscript?4- 6 wks? if this is the case, than really it isnt along time at lall, you will be back in the fym before you know it, i want you to give me the whole low don of wht they are doing with you in PT
