    Ya it's all about preference.

Personally I dont like training tri's with chest as I feel it puts too much strain on your triceps and causes exhaustion too quickly and hinders your whole workout day.

Recently in an effort to get my arms a bit bigger i've started training triceps and biceps seperately and on their own for a whole workout day. My biceps still feel pumped from two days ago!! Love that feeling..

    On bicep day i'll do:

    4 Sets of Preacher curls, 12, 10, 10, 8/0-failure

3 Sets per arm of concentration curls, 12, 10, 8

    2 Sets of 21's

    4 Sets per arm of hammer curls, 12, 10, 10, 8/0-Failure

Some cable curls to finish off

    On Tricep day i'll do:

    4 Sets per arm of single dumbell raises, 12, 10, 10, 8

    4 Sets of Skull Crushers, 12, 10, 8, 0-Failure

    4 Sets of pushdowns (lightish weight) 20, 20, 20, 20

    4 Sets per arm of dumbell kickbacks, 12, 10, 10, 0-Failure

    Dips to finish off

I go heavy on most of my weights, chuck in one high rep exercise to mix things up. Im no expert but I find this works for me quite well.

Dont mean to hi-jack but got a quick question about skulls... when I do skullcrushers I get a very big discomfort in my elbows. Its not really pain but more of a cracking sort of feeling. Is that normal or are my elbows just screwed up?

Do you do the skullcrushers as your first exercise? Do you warm up? Cracking feeling does not sound good at all.

Working youre tri's the same day as chest is actually a good idea. As long as you do the larger muscle group first. Do youre chest first and then do youre tri's. This is called pre-exhausting youre tri's. You use youre tri's while benching so when you go to work them out you have to do less sets/excersizes to get them done. Youre saving youreself time in the gym...but who wants to do that...I love being there anyways :-)

Your friend has 0 knowledge about training then.

everybody is different. i'd rather train tri's on a seperate day from chest but that's just me. finding out what works best for you is the smart way to approach this.
