Report: Thousands of Iranian agents in Iraq

Iran has thousands of paid operatives working in neighboring Iraq, an Iranian opposition group based in France said Friday, and it released the names of nearly 32,000 people it alleged were involved

The council is the political wing of the People's Mujahedeen of Iran, which advocates the overthrow of Iran's Islamic government. The council has been based in France since shortly after the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Mohammad Mohaddessin, who heads the council's foreign affairs committee, alleged that thousands of Iraqis are working on Iran's behalf.

"The clerical regime, faced with intensifying domestic crisis and isolation inside Iran, views its only chance for survival in the establishment of a proxy regime in Iraq," Mohaddessin said at a news conference in Paris.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Bush administration has authorized the U.S. military to capture or kill Iranian agents in Iraq who are plotting attacks against U.S. and coalition forces, a U.S. national security official said Friday.

The policy, approved by President Bush in the last couple of months, is aimed at Iranian agents planning attacks with Iraqi militiamen, the official said.

You posted an obvious opposition to agents in a foreign country, yet Israel has untold numbers of agents and operatives deployed throughout the world, is there a difference? None whatsoever! As a matter of fact I would guess a great number of them are engaged in surreptitious and information gathering activities beneficial solely to Israel which would be viewed unfavorably by the host country as espionage.

I don't hate jews, I just plain don't trust them. Nor do I believe Israel has the right to exist as an racially exclusive state at the expense of a dispossessed and oppressed indigenous peoples.

The problem is, many Americans are not thinking about the consequences of retreating, or even worse, they think that there will not be any consequences. No one likes war, but you must realize that there is no Avalon on earth. I would be more concerned about a president that made US policy decisions based on what the rest of the world thought.
