Not sure if posting in right place? BMI???

I went to the docs last week for a check up. While I was there I asked if he could work my body fat% out, he said he could do my bmi for me. height 5'10" 192 lbs bmi he worked out 30.45. He told me I was obese. I am no way obese I have a 32" waste. Normally I way about 165-170lb Been training about 8 months, so bound to weigh more. My question is this what is bmi actually for and is it out dated? thanx for any replies.

I find its flawed, a BB maybe 250lbs and 5'4 with but with 6%BF and according to the BMI it will say you are morbidly obese. Hence it doesnt distinguish amongst muscle mass(weight) and fat(weight). I always get a negative result but I know Im in good shape and health

BMI measurements are an archaic form of measurement that mean pretty much nothing. For anyone that is into athletics, you will normally come out as reading obese or morbidly obese by a BMI test. Its a complete joke to ever go by it if you're into training
