i have been using close grip for years for bench, and tried wide grip for the 1st time today (long time to have not tried it) and wow it hit my chest WAY better and i could only do half the reps i could do with close grip

you should be switching it up every couple months
I always change my grip on every set I do. I go from putting my index finger on the ring of the barbell, to the middle finger, to the ring, to the pinkie. These little subtle changes have helped me.
i try to keep it fairly wide on flats but i use a closer grip with incline because it kills my shoulders.
