2g of dex per 1q of protein, so 40g prot shake should have 80g dex
What are your stats? Diet? Goals?
You should check out waxy maize starch. There is plenty of info thru the 'search' function here, at AR, on it and it's advantages. I bloat on dex and do not prefer it at all in my diet. Here is a link that talks about and supplies WMS:

so the dextrose i got a teaspoon is 4 grams so i need ot put 10 teaspoons in my shake?
I may be wrong with this (i haven't used dextrose) so someone correct me if I'm wrong. If the dex u have is 1 teaspoon per serving and each serving is 4 grams of carbs and you are going for a 1:2 ratio 1 being protein and 2 being dex and you are making a pwo shake that has 40 grams protein then you need to put in 80 grams of dex. Which would be 20 teaspoons.
lol exactly my math was off but isnt that alot?
Have never used dex b4 so I'm not sure if thats alot or not I would put in a pot and drink it on a cot (shoulda been dr seuss) Maybe someone with a little more experience will answer but I'm pretty sure 20 teaspoons would b correct
What are your goals? Are you heavy trying to slim down? are u skinny looking to bulk. Are you eating good? Pro/Dex alone won't rip you up. Just a few questions other guys are gonna ask to better help you out
trying to put some mass on. i eat pretty good i usually stick to my diet. lol i know it wont rip me up i was just wondering i thought that was alot for one shake. 20 teaspoons
I had a question about PWO and dextrose/sugar.
I typically drink a shake consisting of 40g of protien followed by 12-16oz of orange or apple juice. (recently started making shakes with water. . . fat free milk is so much tastier)
I feel it does its job to spike insulin, provide protiens for muscles, replenish glycogen and tides me over while I am preparing some meats and veggies for dinner.
Do you all feel that the juice is as suitable as the dextrose? I just LOVE apple and orange juice. (I am talking juice, not SunnyD or other stuff)
kynetguy - the juices are definatley going to give you an insulin spike, and i agree they taste good, when i run out of dextrose/maltodextrin sometimes ill have a couple spoonfuls of jam or jelly, but you're gonna get some other stuff that you dont need and the dextrose/maltodextrin is not only a more pure form, but its dirt cheap when ordered in bulk
http://www.trueprotein.com/default.aspx ---- im pretty sure they got the best deal around
Dextrose is D-glucose which is simplest sugar, so does not need digestion. Since you deplete your glucogen stores during a workout, it is good to restore it after a workout. I just eat white bread post workout.
I meant glycogen not glucogen
