    Squat Pain?

I have been trying to squat really heavy for a while but i find that no matter how much i try to perfect my stance and squat my lower back hurts. always use belt. Lately ive quit using free weight squat and started using a squat machine and this has helped the pain but i dont get near the pump like with free weight. I have had mild scoliosis (spelling) since i was 13 and i dont know if thats it or wat. help please i love squating and want to be hitting it hard right now

Why not try leg press. It is the same compound movement as squats but your back will be protected a bit more

You might try going back down in weight and doing a higher rep workout. This will give the postural muscles of the lower back time to catch up. The muscles of the lower back are designed to be fatigue resistant not explosive. In some cases the legs can grow far stronger with respect to the lower back. One way to combat this and still grow your legs is to do lighter weight for more reps. This trains your lower back and still gets growth out of your legs. When you feel that your back is ready then slowly and I mean slowly increase the wieght. If you go up to fast then your lower back may not have time to adapt and you could be in the same boat your in now.

I love free weight squats too bro, I think they are much better. The first thing I would try is a chiropractor. I bet I may have butchered that spelling. But anyways, I had to go to one once with awful lower and upper (scary) back pain and she did wonders, knocked it out in two days.
