    18yrs. old; 6'2" 182lbs.

Hey guys I've read these forums for a while but have never been able to "stick" to lifting. I recently started lifting with a friend for the past 2 weeks or so. I'm looking to get to around 240lbs and then cut down. If you guys have any basic techniques that you think would help then let me know. I have read all there is to read about diets and do my best to eat around 5-6 meals a day. We are both looking to stay natty even though no one around us is, lol. I'm looking for advice and some friends I can pm some questions whenever I get some.

I don't think I have that great "genes" because my dad was a swimmer and my mom was a cheerleader, but who knows, maybe you guys can prove me wrong. Sorry about the position in the pic its the best I could do for the moment.

I don't have the best of genes myself, so that means that I have to work that much harder on my physique. Just remember that you're in control of your results. If you desire a bigger physique, then it's up to YOU and only YOU to stick to the lifestyle.

You're young, long and lean, so eating will be the most important aspect to your regimen. I'd check out some of the diet stickys under the diet forum if I were you. And whatever you do, try NOT to make any drastic changes to whatever you're currently doing. It's best to work your way into change, especially when it pertains to diet. Develop a solid plan and then execute it. Give it some time (at least a month) and then evaluate it. Too many people tinker with their diets and/or their training which never really gives them a chance to know if it was successful or not.

And always keep this in mind: "Your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same." - Mavsluva

I'll take anything I can get bro I want to get the best results so any criticism is fine by me. What I should work on, what kind of work out to get that done, how many shakes a day, basically anything. I want to learn as much as I can. I really want to work on my traps,(i just like the look), so other than shruggs what could I do. Also for big pecs what should I be doing. My current bench is a 3 rep of 175, I haven't tried maxing. But I want to have my max at 240 sometime this summer.

We all want the very best results in what we do, but what you have to figure out is what works the very best for you personally. I've been working out very dilligently for 4 years now and I can honestly say that I'm still not sure what's best for me. So I try something and carry it out for a month or two and if it's working ,then I stick to it. I then change it when I feel as if my body is no longer responding to it. This applies to both your diet as well as your training.

As far as your training goes, just stick to the basics for now. Try to incorporate all of your push movements (chest, shoulders and tri's) during one training session and then your pull movements (back and bi's) during one training session as well. Try to allow at least 72 hours of rest before hitting the same body part again. Get at least 8 hours of sleep and make sure that you're taking in enough QUALITY nutrients to support your training regimen. Also, do NOT neglect training your legs! Anyone can have big arms and a buff chest.

    Good luck!

Sounds like you've got a good attitude. I highly recommend you check out the forum sticky's as well as some of the members' workout logs (Chest6, Audis, Narkissos, and Faiz) as they've done a great job documenting what and when they train.

I have some more questions. Due to my recent working out i've had some slight breakouts that kind of worry me, due to the trouble i've had with acne. I had to take Accutane for 8months or so in 9th grade and it was the worst experience of my life. I asked my friend whom I work out with he said that hormones are released that causes the breakouts. I'm not sure. And recently my weight has been really fluctuating anywhere from 194-176. Is this normal?
