    Business on ebay?

Hey guys just curious if anybody here makes their entire income or some extra money selling or owning a store on ebay. I have been reading about it and wondering if I could manage it maybe with a partner while at school. I havent found something I want to sell yet, but something possibly small since I dont have much storage and not too expensive to get into...or it can be pending other situations.

So the question is if anyone here has done it share your stories about it.

I make probably 25-30% of my annual income from ebay on average.

In 2005 though my ebay income far exceeded my regular income but that was because of a few one-offs!

    I love ebay!!

not very easy to refund, on scammers / faulty goods ect, compared to creditcard. sure paypal is your creditcard, but its not directly from ebay. best to put your visa or mastercard on ebay

paypals seller protection is complete bollocks and many people result to taking them to court over it. i did and won.
    so is there buyer protection.

check out paypalsuck.com millions of people get screwed by paypal.
paypal can also hold funds for upto 6 months, leaving lots of people in debt.
they just say there investigating your account.
then they let it clear and as soon as you transfer to your account they can hold for another 3 months.
and of course for those 9 months you will not earn any interest, but paypal are.

i use paypal, but use my credit card to transfer funds. this way if paypal isnt cooperating with me, i call my credit card company and let them fight it out. its like having double protection.

yeah , i used to make my entire income on ebay, the problem is not selling/buying or even paypal, it's finding the products that sell well for a profit that is worthwhile, and having alot of them. You pretty much have to have a constant supply of product, ie... electronics / high end clothing etc... that is what caused my business to slow down, low supply of product that is in high demand, don't jump into eBay unless you have some.. otherwise its pointless.

also with paypal you can file chargebacks and for a seller you just need to present a good reason why you should not refund the person, being a seller it is typically the buyer who does not throughly read the listing or complains about some BS.... and doesn't realize its the INTERNET, if you want a perfect product go to the store. .02

i had no idea about paypal but what i know about ebay is you have to be an idiot to get scammed.
make sure the seller/buyer has a shitload of postive feedback, and never go under like 99.8
Some ppl actually buy crap from ppl with terrible feedback and than say ebay is full of scammers, no, no its not. Your just a retarded shopper.

I NEVER had a problem with ebay. (last 3 years since I joined) I buy TONS of shit off of it. And ALWAYS get great deals. You just need common sense.

And about selling on ebay, its a bitch, you need connections or to just be in the right place at the right time or you need to obsess about it 24/7 for a good 6 months and an idea may pop into your head. I have several great ideas at the moment but it requires some time and Im loaded this semester so I cant do shit on ebay till summer.
