I remember you asking this about this time last year, haha. Where's S.P.G, he'll remember!
It's a good compound exercise that has an isolating effect on the rear delts and mid trapezius fibres. It will be more useful for those more experienced lifters that are started to really focus on back training and trying to minimise arm involvement as much as possible.
I did notice it helped bring out my posterior delts more, but I want to hit my arms hard with the compounds so I choose underhand or barbell rows and I find strength progression is better anyway.
So yes it has a place, but if you are going for something like an upper/lower or push/pull routine, or vertical/horizontal routine, then you'll want to focus more on the mass variant with is barbell rows.
I always do it standing up as a finisher. Love it. Hits the rear delts great as well, as mentioned.
I thought this focused more on lats
hmm im gonna give that a try i need to focus on my rear delt
No, if you want to hit the lats you would have the shoulders parallel with the torso not perpendicular. Underhand or yates rows are great for the lats as the elbows are forced to be parallel with the body, meaning you can focus on the lats.Originally Posted by audis4
yeah basically the only diffrence between the 2 is that for delt you arm should be in a 90 degree angle and for lats it should be under 45.......
