    Sometimes I Wanna Slap People!!!

Okay so I'm working out, doing my thing at my gym when some, I'd say mid-40-50's lady comes up and starts exercising... Okay, first she goes to the tricep pushdown, and cracks out about 40 of them... Wtf? 40 reps, lol Then she heads over to another spot, and does the same exercise again, probably another high amount of reps. Then she grabs a very light barbell and begins deadlifting... Although not really, I'd say retarded lifting, horrible form... She does about 10 of those and then leaves.... All of this is done in under 5 minutes. Are people this stupid and ignorant about working out? I'm not trying to be an a-hole but how ridiculous are some people? Do they think by not educating themselves and signing up for a gym but just going for 5 minutes and doing random ass stuff they're going to change something about themselves!!??

There are alot of woman and classes for women to train like that. I'm not saying she was doing anything correctly. But alot of woman train at a faster pace and lighter weights. Its almost a combo cardio workout.

I suppose if you are concerned with her workout, you should offer some suggestions or inquire as to her goals. Flaming her on a board she will never read does little good for her or anybody.

And FYI, I know several guys, myself included, who include high-rep routines into their workouts, especially when avoiding bulking. I do not think I have ever had that poor of form or set choice as you have suggested this woman had, but there are benefits in endurance for the sport I am in.

Sounds like my gf at the gym... every exercise has an insane amount of reps. Women seem to be afraid of putting on muscle... but they all want to look "toned" they just dont realize that it's muscle that they are trying to tone!

Well... There goes another two minutes of my life that I will never get back...

  16. #16
    Same here...

But I think its funny. There were 2 fat ladies doing the bike like 6 months back at my gym at home pedaling sooo slow. RPM prolly 2 lol. I mean they were barely moving. They did this for 20 minutes or so, then left lol

ha, what makes me laugh is how at my gym all the obese people are always in the hot tub or sauna instead of on a bicycle or something.

Well I wouldn't mind if she looked like she was into it, but she looked bored and didn't even look like she was putting effort into it... And I have to disagree with you Mavsluva about renaming it... At least create a new section for me

my gym is over run with skinny little white kids fresh outta school, perhapps not... who run around wearin tight wife beaters and spend more time singin along to some rap or hip hop tune flexin their 10 inch arms in the mirror, than working out. needles to say, its annoying when you have to wait for this kid to do a bench set at 100 lbs.

but who cares, they arent training with me, and I zone out with my ipod and do my work and thats all that matters to me

Back when I was a personal trainer I use to look for people like the lady you describe. I would approach them with the question "can I make a suggestion?"

Next thing you know I would have them signing up for a 6 month package of personal training and supps. After a while, I couldn't live with myself anymore so I switched to coaching youth sports to try to educate them about fitness.

dude why are you sh!tting on a 45-50 yr old woman? give her credit for getting her self in there in the first place. she is probably doing a routine that was advised to her by her dr. or a personal trainer to get her heart rate up.

i have noticed a common trend among young and new bb'rs and the like always shit on people who have no relevance to them in anyway... its like lets pick on the kid who is different than us syndrome that many highschoolers have.

1 day a week and make phenomenal gains? Well they must have phenomenal genetics to go with it... And the title is a joke, I wouldn't honestly slap her...

speaking of ladies pissing me off, I've been working out at the Y here in Denver and there's this 30-40 year old woman who comes in with sandals everyday, showing her NASTY toenails. (There is a BIG sign saying "NO OPEN-TOED SHOES") I really hate that.

Also, when she's there she will bounce around from machine to machine (never free weights) and set it on 10 (which must be the equivalent of 5 lbs) and do 50 reps, and then she will sit there just staring at the wall for another 5 minutes. If I have to use a machine she's on then I'm screwed. I'd rather not waste my time talking to her, so I'll go do a different exercise to hit the same muscle.

See these last two guys know what I'm talking about... At least these two don't wanna stand up for a lazy person and the only excuse you can give me to be nice to her is cuz she's old... Old people are mean!
