I'm getting arthroscopic exploratory shoulder surgery Monday May 7, 2007.

I had an acrimioplasty done on Nov. 9, 2006. Since than I have had alot of pain near the AC joint. My doc has had me get MRI's, xrays, CT scans, cortisone shots, physical therapy, etc. and he has ruled out every possible scenario that could be going on in my shoulder (tears, arthritis, etc.) EXCEPT for the possibility that I may have scar tissue built up near the incision site where he stuck one of the portals in when he did the arthroscopic acromioplasty. He said it's possible a piece of scar tissue built up near the incision is probably rubbing up on the bone when I move my shoulder...thus causing great pain. He said he will see if that's the case when he does an arthroscopic exploratory shoulder surgery on me Monday May 7, 2007. I'm 27 years old.

Here is one thing I'm concerned about: My doctor said if it is indeed scar tissue built up near the incision site where he stuck one of the portals in when he did the arthroscopic acromioplasty, he will surgically remove the scar tissue. However he said it may grow back. So my question is...will it grow back? And is there a way to prevent it from growing back? And lastly, what if it does grow back, do I have to get it surgically removed again or do I just live with pain in my shoulder for the rest of my life?

The doc doesn't sound 100% on this one. Get a second opinion if you haven't already. Second opinions are wise. If both opinions coinciede, great. if they don't, then you need a third opinion. That is just what I would do.
Sorry about your shoulder... I know all to well what shoulder injuries are like...
