    squatting issues

i sent a PM to doc. sust for his expert opinion but i thought it would be helpful to open up this discussion to all the members...
im stuck in a rut with my squats, after a few months of making great gains, my max weight is not going up, however, weights less than my max are getting easier and im able to rep them more times.

for a while i was doing a lot of one rep max stuff and i responded really well, my max got up to 425, (i would also do reps after i would max out) however, after about a month of that i started feeling burned out from maxing out, so i started working in the 4-6 rep range. after a month or so of this, i felt i was ready to go heavy again, last week i did heavy walk outs just to get used to the weight on my back, and today was my first day of squatting heavy again, and i could barely get 405, it felt very heavy on my back. this was rather frustrating since 225 and 315 felt like nothing, and i was able to power through them no problem.

i was thinking about trying some box squats just to change it up. what other exercises can i do that will change it up for me.
here is a log of my workouts...

    any input would be appreciatted!
    thanks

I personally call this "the pyramid problem"

    - If your pyramid base is small (volume training), then your peak will be short (one-rep max)
    - If you work on increasing training volume (more reps per set), its a matter of time before your one-rep max will follow suit

you had the right idea to notch your training down to 4-6 rep range but that range is still considered as a strength training mechanism....you need to work on muscle endurance and should look into the 8-10 rep ranges.

IMO, one rep maxes are just crude gauges of your strength level but really do nothing to really build muscle. I do one-rep maxes once eery 6-8 weeks just to see how far I've come...most of the time I alter between 6-8 and 8-12 rep ranges...they're great for mass, strength and endurance

    just my .02,
    cheers
