A couch potato probably can't digest more than 25-30 g of protein in a sitting but a powerhouse bber with a high metabolism and resulting elevated enzyme count (from digesting meals every 2-3 hrs) can handle up to 60-70g after an intense workout. Although I agree 90g seems too high for one sitting...

Your protein consumption should be first calculated as per you daily macro nutrient needs. Based on simple formulas, K-M or H-B. Then allocate the percentage of calories you want to derive from protein(e.g. 40%). Then divide this number by 5-7 meals spread throughout the day every 2-3 hours. By doing this optimal allocation of macro nutrients and keeping your metabolic rate up you should not be any higher then ~50grams per meal.
