This kickstart to your life sounds real nice, especially if this were like 1996. Getting shot at isn't all it's cracked up to be and maybe you're one of the like 10% that really believes in the current conflict and we're there liberating these guys, but all I hear about is college and a lack of income.
Listen to Spartan, if you join you are going to war. It's easy to brush that aside while you're chilling as a civilian. It's a real wake up call when you find yourself in full battle rattle strapped to the seat inside a C130 headed into Balad to start the most miserable 15 months of your life.
Don't get me wrong, the forces need guys joining up these days. But we're mostly among friends here so what I am saying is only some precautionary words that I hope you consider. These days your only safe bet might be the coast guard and I think that would help you reach your goals. On the other hand scraping together enough cash to attend a 4 year school is something you can most definitely achieve without going this route.
