The vids are on Powerliftingwatch.com under the Lexen extreme heading. Went up pretty easy. I think I could have gone 770 or so. I just wanted to break John Staffords 275 Westside record. I weighed in at 248 with shoes on.

Way to rock the boat Greg, congrats on your lift.
So did I-370 twice. Congrats man that is fantastic bench.
Honestly man, I would stay away from Metal Militia training. Youre looking for an injury. Think about it, how many MM guys are still competing? Everyone who used it at westside is now retired due to injury. Bits and pieces are fine, but as a whole it is too much. Just my 2 cents.
I will strogly agree with that,I know from 1st hand experiance,I now fight with chronic strains in my inner elbows/biceps from MM training .Originally Posted by westsideelite

my opinions on the milita training;
1 the technique.stay on your toes and push your heals down, elbows in belly up, press and let the bar drift back, this for me works so much better than the old push the bar straight up.feet flat technique.
2 board presses without the shirt with the pinky fingers on the nurlings. i used to do board with the shirt on, i started to train with some ex-militia members and they convinced me that training shirted board only teaches you how not to touch with weight, so i stoped and wouldnt you know it worked.
3 training for reps in the shirt . i know greg you arent a fan of this, but i found using triples when you are farther out from a meet and than droping to doubles and singles as the meet gets closer worked better fro me. helped me learn the shirt better, i think a common mistake by many is trying to force the bar to touch with the weight on lighter sets. if you can get it down great, but dont sacrifice form.keep good form, bring the bar down until the bar stops movement, than press
the things i dont like about militia training,
1 the volume. it can be over bearing. they look at the program in the value of "work" the more "work" you get in the better, this is not always true since i find less is better in alot of cases.
2 the strain on the CNS because you basicaly do not rotate the exercises as you do with WSB methods.also you cant really work on your wk points if you stick to their template and use the same damn exercises all the time
3 most of MM lifters lift part time, they lift for a few months a year, take a few months off, thanget back to training for a while, take a few wks off... it makes very little sense to me, the idea of training all year is what works for me.
4 lack of a dynamic effort day. speed work has done wonders for me. the millitia doenst bother with this, they do it if they feel they need to ,which basicaly means, they never do it at all. i cant emphasise enough how important speed work is. i think this is a major down fall of the MM program.
so like all training methods, you have some good, you have some bad. the way for all training to evolve is to diversify, try things out and find what works for each individual and create a method using a hybrid system of various techniques and programs that will work for you.i think alot of our sport has been learned by trial and error and i am sure it will continue in the future.
congrat greg on themonster press, you will be at 800lbs soon enough, best of luck at the cicni pro/am
Doc, I agree with everything u said (other than the reps). Its not that I dont agree w/ it, its that people do it wrong. I see people hitting different spots on every rep. That to me is the downfall of shirted reps. If u are really good at shirt work I dont think it is a problem. I do like there form though. Its basically how I bench. For me, extensions work really well to up my press. In fact, I think it is the single most important factor in upping my bench over the last year. My raw bench has also gone up a ton. Thanks for the kind words. Big things are gonna happen in August.
when you do the tri extensions do you ever get elbow pain?Originally Posted by westsideelite

Livestrong, hell, that goes without saying....
Awesome job... must feel amazing!!!Originally Posted by westsideelite

What can you bench unassisted, a raw bench with no bench shirt or equipment. Just you against the bar.
I floor pressed 525 easily yesterday, so Im guessing around 545 or so. Maybe a little more.
^^ getting close to the big meet, are you deloading yet? how do you feel going into the meet? the guys that it train with that are competeing at that meet are winding down their training. it is really going to be a great meet, cant wait to see the results.
that is ****in sick...goddamn, congrats bro.

Just did my last day of circa max. We max against blue, green, purple band off a box with our straps down. I was exhausted as I worked an overnight shift and my bw was low (250fully dressed), but I wore a new suit and it felt great. I hit a 15 pound PR which was actually more than I was looking for. We couldnt find any 2.5's so I said F it and went up. Then I bought the snickers I have been craving for the 3 weeks of this horrible diet. I feel great, and and will deload until the meet.
nice
So you can bench aroung 250kg that is very impressive, I have been training around 5mth since long lay offs over the yrs. I am benching about 180kg for 1 rep. In the past I benched 200kg at bweight 90kg. I am hoping to get up to 220kg. However I dont train like a powerlifter would. I enjoy training all bodyparts but with quite heavy weights. I dont know what I could do if I trained like a powerlifter but 250kg is a huge weight.Originally Posted by westsideelite

wow, thats impressive
being close to ginny is a great thing, you need any help with alterations and i am sure she has your back.Originally Posted by westsideelite
Hey Westside, what are some of your favorite partial ME's for the bench and in what order do you rotate them ?
Just curious.
^^^damn good question
We dont have any order to things. We pick when we get there. As far as I can tell its just do what u feel like doing. My favs are floor press (all kinds), 3 board press (although u really dont see these much), foam press (bringing weights down to the spongebob boxes). We actually do more full range stuff these days. Also, I have not put on my bench shirt on this cycle. Well see what happens in a week.
