Bit of info for the Aussie members about accutane.
Have been on tetracycline anti-biotics for 3-4 months with some improvement in my acne, but not satisfied with the results. Decreased breakouts, but the ones I am getting are bigger & more painful sub-surface blemishes.
Went to my reg doctor expecting to need to go to a dermatologist to pleed for accutane, which I was doubtful of getting considering my acne is a mild case which mainly came out 2-3 months after my last cycle.
Anyways, went in, told him I'm 30 and I'm sick of this, been on anti-b's for 3-4 months and no satisfied. He suggested accutane straight up. No need for specialist or regular blood work. BTW, only on 20mg a day (2x 10mg).
Just wanted to let the Aussie bro's know. Go on the anti-b's for 2-3 months (which are easy to be perscribed) and tell you doc your not satisfied if they aren't helping enough.
Apparently NSW is the only state you need to see a dermatologist these days, which I sourced from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotretinoin
in the perscribing restrictions section.
