playing hockey, do you happen to know anyone or anything about it?? just want to know about lifting, some forums people say they cant do pushups or press anymore, it scared the shit out of me. the scaphoid is the slowest healing bone in the body, due to poor blood supply.

yeah no doubt bro, the carpals are not good bones to break! I don't have any personal experience with it, but I would listen to Doc. Sust, he seems to know his stuff. Maybe wrist wraps would help when you get ready as well?? Even just for mental support. Keep me updated though bro, I'd be interested in knowing how long it took until you were back to your normal workout routine.

no prob, the muscle atrophy already in 5 weeks alone is depressing, my right arm is 2 inches bigger than my left in the bi, and 1 near the forearm

yeah bro I know the feeling, I had acl surgery in april...my left thigh is 3.5 inches smaller. VERY DEPRESSING. But the body has a way of catching up. You'll build it back up bro, just take the time and heal up, so you can come back and hit it hard.

lol yeah. And I wasn't in a brace or anything, I was forcing myself to walk on it within a week, but anytime you get that kind of swelling and any sort of immobilization, there's no way to avoid atrophy. Its just sad that is goes so much quicker than it comes.

my doc is telling me that the scaphoid is much worse to break than the radius, its much slower healing and causes alot more problems down the line. He actually said that i was unlucky for breaking that part of the wrist.

    Thumbs up Scaphoid fracture!!

Hey bro, I fractured my scaphoid in october 06 and am only getting back to where i was benching previously, I do note however that I was treated by internal fixation by way of a herbert's screw which has been complicated by proximal prominance of the screw(poking its head a couple of mm above the bone) and increased cyst formation on the bottom of the screw.
There is about a 1 in 10 chance for especially 20-30yo males to develop a Nerovascular deformity or non bony union where the bones do not fuse properly due to the position of the scaphoid bone and the surrounding blood supply. I dont want to lower your hopes but dude this fracture is a major pain in the **** and i wouldn't say anywhere near 4 weeks till 100%. Its been 12months for me and a lot of pain still and i even had 6 months of intense occupational therapy(workers compensation so no expense to myself luckily).
Good luck but bro and dont go too heavy caus youll know by how it feels under weight and keep up plenty of flexion exercises........................
