Yes, I know we all signed up for "8 years." Me too, I've got a few couple years left on the original 8, but dude I am more of a civilian than I ever was before. It would not be good for anyone to have me back in a uniform.
So, like you I am facing this possibility as well. I get emails and letter sent to my house in the states asking me to update my information and blah, blah, blah. Fvck that, I ignore that crap.
I have looked into this, since Sept. 11th when they started recalling soldiers on the IRR, not a single one who didn't report has been prosecuted, considered AWOL, or anything. Not one.
So, let's think about this for a moment. You either A: report, get a haircut, uproot your life, start wearing combat boots again and get shipped off to the current quagmire in the desert. Or you, B: Ignore the letter, continue on with your life and absolutely nothing changes.
Tough decision there bro.
