Badass.
My lord..that fat slob behind him. I can see having a little flab and having it work for you in moving heavy weight...but thats just straight obese.
Looks like he's wearing a dress, the fat guy that is.
That dude in the back should be a bit embarassed.
mentioned same thing what a fatty
man that dude in the bg is fat
first off 950 is rediculous...... secondly the fat guy in the dress is discusting
That pregnant man looks funny like he doesn't fit in with these guys.
Many of the super heavy weight strong powerlifters are big guys. I know this is mostly a body building site and being heavy seems to be a taboo, but heavy weight powerlifting is a different game.
Examples:
Jeff Lewis with a 1212lbs squat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR8bPTTDVu8&NR=1
Travis Rogers with an 825lbs bench
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B66WI...%2Fnode%2F4359
Gene Rychlak with a 1010 bench
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlDWd...%2Fnode%2F3788
So for all the guys talking smack against those big boys remember these are the guys who throw up the big numbers which is a different game altogether. Some powerlifters have even argued that their sport is a sport with an objective goal (lifting weight) and that bodybuilding could be compared to modeling... which is based on subjectivity of attractiveness.![]()
But I think there is a fine line between being a BIG powerlifter, and just being overweight. Its very easy to pick powerlifters out in a crowd, they may be big, but most of them dont have fat hanging on them.

Sorry , i don't want to start an argument, but this is bullshit.

I go to the gym and lift.I like lifting. If in the process of that i start looking better its fine.If not it's the same for me.Thats why i don't care about diet and other stuff.Plus i am naturaly a little puffier ,but i can run faster then most slim guys i know, and even for longer some times(for example).
My point is that the argument of looks is not necesararely a problem in powerlifting. If someone called me fat i wouldn't mind, but if that guy is doing so only to make him self look good, then we have a problem.
I agree!Originally Posted by scottish
being that i am a powerlifter, i hate how the general view is that most powerlifters are fat and or lazy. i am not fat(sometimes a little bloated) but if you look at most of the elite powerlifters 275 and under they are usually lean. look at rjstrong he is probably more lean than most of this board and puts up huge totals
i appreciate the kind words bro!!! it comes with the territory i suppose... everyone thinking powerlifters are fat. however i think you hit the nail on the head in this response. take my last contest for example (Sr. Nationals) if you look at the top 3 242's Justin Graalfs, Justin Redding, and I you will find 3 lean powerlifters that could potentially leap over to the amateur level bodybuilding world if that was the goal. If you have a chance check out the latest Powerlifting USA and you will see us cheesing for the camera in the Sr. Natty's article.Originally Posted by akh 1985

i think people tend to think of powerlifters as "fat" because when the general public sees a powerlifter its usually the biggest lifts, which are in the 308+ divisions (bolton, franks, and etc.). hopefully more guys like you can get in the spotlight.
and yeah i seen you in the august edition. once again great job!
I have no problem with anyones size. Im just saying "most" Pl's are big, not flabby. Over time. A good number of them will get the Pling gut. Its hard as a rock, but looks big. After almost 12+ years of PLing Ive gotten where my gut is no longer looking plump, but my weights are still going up.
the bloke must be very strong, would you let someone weak spot you with that much weight? i think not!!!!
That is some really impressive lifting there
