    describe coming off t-3

I am currently taking t-3 for the first time. I am doing it 3 weeks on 2 weeks off. My buddy said he does not like t-3 because it is real "harsh" on him coming off. However I did not ask him what he ment by this. What has been your guys experiances.

That is a wrong protocol for t3. The dosage should be tappered up to avoid problems and quitting can be cold turkey, although i prefer to tapper down also.

Who ever told you to do it like that should be shot. You taper slowly up to peak and slowly taper down. Not any 3/2

Start 25mcg and increase it 25 every 6 days until you reach the level you want, say around 100. Then when you want to come off use the same protocol. Decrease it 25mcg every 6 until your off.

there is absolutely no medical proof that long term t3/t4 administration will cause permanent damage to your thyroid. even after 30 years of administration, patients have recovered full thyroid funtion in less than a month.

    EX:
    Days 1,2: 50mcgs
    Days 3,4: 75mcgs
    Days 5-18: 100 - 125mcgs
And HERE IS THE CRITICAL STAGE:
The SLOW taper. This is CRITICAL so that TSH levels
are allowed to adapt to the dosage so that there is no crash.
Days 19-22 : 125mcgs (or 100 depends on your max)
    Days 23-26 : 100mcgs
    Days 27-30: 75mcgs
    Days 31-34: 50mcgs
Now, SUPER-SLOW(TSH will be VERY sensitive to ANY T3 now)
    Days 35-41 : 37.5mcgs
    Days 42-48 : 25 mcgs
    Days 49-56 : 12.5 mcgs

    8-weeks total.

I have never gotten withdrawel symptoms from t3, but I have only used it in 10 day spurts while on DNP.

Have any of you gone on long term (more than 2 months) T3, and then stopped after tapering down, and then had a check after 2 months from then on your thyroid levels? I would be interested in knowing if they recovered to what they were previously...

As for withdrawel symptoms, my opinion is T3 is a very very gentle drug... very few side effects if any...
