You can... I believe it's best, if you're supposed to pick any one time, immediately following a workout (up to 30 minutes). You don't "have" to have one before... Nor do you have to have one afterward. It's just that your muscles absorb nutrients like a sponge right after a workout. I personally drink a 1,200 calorie, 90 grams of protein shake throughout the day, and drink more if it post-workout then any other time.Originally Posted by midnight777

Yes, I think that your PWO meal is the most important meal of the day. And in this "meal" the best is whey protein powder with a ratio of 2:1 carb to protein. So, that means if you take 40g of protein powder then you need to add 80 grams of simple fast acting carbs to it like dextrose
