    Food Steamer anyone?

Anybody have a food steamer? I'm thinking about getting one for cooking veggies, eggs, and possibly chicken (any experience with that?). Brands/prices/anything to stay away from?

the ones i've seen online are designed so that they have multiple levels for different foods, or so that you can lay more food out (e.g. surface area) to steam. i've been thinking the pot is obviously good enough, but was curious if anyone was using a steamer that has a timer, etc.

my mom is gonna give me her old one next time I go home. Definetly makes cooking rice/veggies easier, but I;m not sure if I would pay for one.

IMO, food steamers are a bigger part of a great physique than AAS. I use mine daily for veggies. I wouldn't use it for chicken cause it kills all the flavor. As far as paying for one or getting a fancy steamer it doesn't matter because mine is a hand-me-down and it works great.

I have a steamer but I rarely makes an appearance out of the cupboards. It definitely makes the vegetables taste better and more crisp but after work I sacrifice a little taste and texture for convenience and just throw them in the microwave.
They do make a difference overall and are worth trying.

I have a rice cooker steamer that has settings for brown rice, white rice, veggies, and some other stuff... it's got a steaming basket, and some other neat stuff with it. It's also got a cook book with it to tell you how to actually use the thing. My dad got it for me for Christmas... it's made by Aroma. I don't know how much it is, but it's also got a timer on it so you can set it to cook your rice while your sleeping and you have your day's carbs hot and fresh when you wake up! I'd say it's worth the investment. Check E-Bay or www.froogle.com you can find anything cheap(er) on those two.

Obviously what ever you have in the bottom compartment is being boiled but in the top two compartments theres wholes in the bottom so the steam rises through. just a thought
