Gaba is worthless. Take it from someone who knows. If you are looking for something to help you sleep really everything OTC sucks except diphenhydramine hcl. Some people don't like diphen so the next thing I would recommend is something with l-theanine in a synergistic complex. They're more for relieving stress but can help you get to sleep too. Theres psychotropin which is the strongest l-theanine complex (also expensive) than theres theanine serene which is cheaper but a bit weaker.
Don't get anything else like pure l-theanine pills, they work a thousand times better in one of the above forms.
