I heard from a guy at the gym that lifting heavy with less reps is better for losing fat than a high rep low weight program. Is there any truth to this?

Yes I have read somewhere that is better cause it helps you burn more fat long after the workout is over. I think it was like 6-8 reps.
resistance training hasnt shown to cause fat lose in any significant amount. There are moderate fat lose improvements with circuit training. So you will still have to do your cardio.
its a proven fact that you will lose more weight if you do weight training and cardio, as opposed to cardio alone. I think for fat loss you shouldnt "powerlift" but keep a rep range of 8-12, no more then a 2 minute break between sets, and do cardio after every weight workout, something like
monday-30 mins wweights, 25 cardio
tue-50 cardio
wed-same as monday
thurs-50 mins cardio
fri-same as monday
sat-50 mins cardio
sun- either off or cardio
IMHO, the fat loss that comes from intense weight training (with a solid clean diet of course) is the result of the nutrient partitioning effect from sending nutrients to repair muscle tissue as opposed to fat storage. I think as long as your workout is intense, the rep ranges and weights are a secondary consideration.
thanks, ill keep the workouts the same for a month and see what happens. probably gonna add more cardio.
add some cardio for the benefit of your own heart.
because My body has so much trouble putting on weight, my cardio is extremely limited. To account for endurance and fat burning proprerties of proper cardio exercise, I will do every bodypart with low weight/high reps and very short rest intervals and alot of supersets. I usually do this following my day of rest atfter my heavy training days because my muscles benefit, my CNS benefits, my endurance benefits, and pretty much everything benefits. Plus my body can recover form the heavy weights and power movements of the days previous whiole at the same time going through hypertrophy with the uage of mostly different muscle fibers.
did the guy at the gym mention diet and cardio???
