I came across a study that claims steroids impair glucose tolerance yet, there is this from Anthony Roberts (http://www.steroid.com/diabetes-and-...ne-studies.php). Is there any truth to steroids impairing glucose tolerance?

Steroids can have an effect on thyroid hormone, insulin and HGH levels...among other things. My blood gulcose levels are usually lower while on
Eating too much suger would more likely cause Diabetes then moderate cycles
Hmm I don't think it's true.
I had a .pdf document about testosterone being used to treat diabetes. When I find it, i'll post it here.
steroids increase glucose intake in most instances. They help stimulate glut 4 insulin receptors in muscle cells and adipocytes.
Here we go, read this: http://www.worldhealth.net/pdf/bookstore/thera6_ch7.pdf
Glut 4 is an insulin depend glucose transport protein. It resides in the nucleus of the cell durning fasting conditions (low blood glucose). After a meal blood glucose goes up, which stimulates the beta cells of the pancreas to release insulin. Insulin when presented to the cell causes the glut 4 transporter to move from the nucleus to the cell membrane. This transporter allows for glucose to diffuse into the cell via the transporter. Once Glucose is in the cell it is rapidly converted to Glucose-6-Phosphate so that it stays in the cell. When blood levels of glucose drop and insulin is no longer present. The transporter moves back into the nucleus of the muscle cell.
