Was out Christmas shopping for my niece with Mom. If a dress came in white, yellow, green, blue, or pink my mom would invariable say:
"Oh, how nice! It comes in pink!" , as if there were no other colors for a little girl. The same thing happened when we looked at bicycles. Ditto with the little electric Jeep (All adult women prefer to drive big pink Jeeps with 70's Barbie flowers all over them, ya know.) I was more than a little surprised.
Now, if good ol' Ma has been thoroughly poisoned by Society's Prejudices, I don't expect much more from all the boys down at the gym... but
WHY would anyone's sense of personal masculity be threatened by a
color?
p.s. I made a vow to my neice, when she was an infant, that I would
NEVER buy her anything pink unless she
SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR IT.
