My chiro tells me to lay on my side with a pillow in between my legs.
The intervertebral discs fill with fluid over night. This causes the discs to expand and put pressure on the supporting structures. That is why in the morning that the back is at a increased risk of injury. Doc Sust would be the guy to ask as he knows more about it than I.
