    Blood donation for BP

i've noticed that a over the last couple of months that people on this board have been turned down from the red cross because their BP was to high. i just got off the phone with the red cross and will take anybody that has a BP lower than 180 systolic and 100 diastolic. my BP now is 175/90. and ill update my bp when i get back from donating so people can get an idea of how much donating will lower BP.

giving blood should not lower your blood pressure at all, high blood pressure is not caused by the amount of blood in your system.

why would'nt it? when somebody is hypovolemic they tend to have hypotension and is reversed by giving fluids. so why wouldnt it work the other way?

also BP meds are mostly diuretics which cause you to piss out fluids which makes less volume in the circulatory system. less volume=less pressure.

your bp may fall slightly after giving blood, but it will quickly return to your previous level. the level of blood in your system, within the ranges that are considered normal, is not what determines blood pressure. when your car gets lower on gas, the fuel pressure is no lower than it is on a full tank, the fuel pump still pumps gas at the same rate. when you add oil to your car, the oil pressure is not increased, the oil pump still pumps oil at the same rate. your heart still continues to pump blood at the same rate regardless of the minor drop in the volume of blood after donating.

giving blood may lower your RBC, but your blood pressure wont be affected..Ima made a good analogy! If your bp is high, your systolic is really high, you might wanna consider getting off the juice and figure out why its that high!!

not surprised..dont ya think that if all ya had to do was give blood to lower BP, people wouldve been doing all the time?? Your systolic is really high..i'd get to a doc

are you having any water retention from the test? Taking an AI may reduce it and lower bp too.. Tren seems to always raise my heart rate too..but usually not that high...make sure you drink lots of water and watch sodium intake, hawthorne berry is supposed to help with bp too..keep an eye on those numbers
