back to bodybuilding competition after injury

I'm a female whose been bodybuilding for about 18 years. I competed for 6 years. I have not competed for 5 years now, due to serious back problems. I am not ready to be done with competitive bodybuilding though. I was pretty successfull with competition over the six straight years I did compete, holding many titles, throughout the country. I've done 17 shows so far. I want to compete again, I'm not done with it. My workouts have been pretty sporatic the past few years, and my nutrition fell way side. I was always so used to being lean year round, I ate a very lean strict nutrition plan even when i was in an offseason preparing for next years show. Now my bodyfat% is too high, and I'm 10# heavier than I have ever weighed. I am starting back with a diet that gives me only 60 carbs per day & every 3rd day carbs are supposed to be at zero, plus i'm supposed to be having 4 tbsp of flax or olive oil daily. Now before I started this diet, I had lost 5#, after starting this plan for about 1 1/2 wks, I gained 4#back. I'm stumped as to what is going on. I have been faithful to the diet, doing 20min of cardio 4 day per week, (now currently 30min/wk), and hitting it with my workouts 4 days per week now. Help, please if anyone has any advice, please tell. I'm trying to stay positive with my drive.

i would think with all that working out you should have a little higher carb intake. being under 100 carbs a day is pretty hard on the body with tons of working out like you are doing. to be safe with it, i would up the carbs a little and just be patient and let the fat come off healthy so it stays off.

also, after you do the initial drop in weight, with working out you should start gaining it back because you are building up that muscle that was lost when you took time off. don't get discouraged on weight numbers. Pay attention to how your body works and stay consistant in your plan. maybe make adjustments every few weeks or every month to your diet/exercise plan.

    keep it up!! good luck!
