I know.... do a search.. I did so please help!

I need to ask a quick question and trust me I searched for hours for the answer.

Are you entitled to know what your employer is testing for in the pre-employment drug test?

If so, how do you find out? DO you ask the lab I sure as hell don't want to ask the employer that makes me look suspicious.

Finally, if an employer did test for steroids wouldn't they have to test for each one individually which would cost a fortune?

    Thanks!

in aus, for goverment jobs they only test for recrational drugs using a 5 panel test, which cant pick up any aas. when i was tested i asked what they were testing for and they told me, but i was not told before hand and did not want to ask so as not to sound suspecious.

Yes, you are entitled to know what they are testing for, just ask the lab you take the test at. Asking at work will make you look bad, you know.

As for testing steroids, highly doubtful they test. No they do not initially test for each individual drug. They do a "combined fractions" test for a variety of compounds. If that results in a positive then a second selective quantatative test is performed by another chemist for the specific compound. Some drugs like stanozolol and THG are difficult to find and they have there own specific test.

steroid tests are different then a normal drug test. They cant just show up on a sheet. They have to check for what compound your body metabolises (sp?) the AAS into and they check your epitestosterone/testosetrone ratio. Doubt your employer will check. Unless you are jacked out of your mind and run around the office punching holes in walls

Thanks guys for all the help. I will call the lab today and ask them.

Here is what my employee handbook says. What is your opinion do you think this is all they are testing for or could there be other drugs.

The test will be used to detect the presence of the following substances, in addition to other substances of which may be required to test for under Federal or State law or contractual agreement: Alcohol, Amphetamines, Methamphetamines, Cannabinoids, Cocaine Metabolites, Benzoylecgonines, Opiates (Morphine, Codeine), and Phencyclidines.

The part I don't like is where it says "in addition to other substances of which may be required to test for under Federal or State law or contractual agreement."

When they say that it makes me a little worrried.

I wouldnt worry about that part.. thats just there to cover there ass legally if they wanted to go that far.

Steroids test are very expensive compared to the rec tests.. and like cheddanips said, unless your acting like an a-hole and making things obvious i wouldnt panic.

Ok my last concern is the anti E I am taking from a research site than many are very familiar with. It is tamox of nolvadex. Is this stuff legit or is there a chance that some kind of street drug will show up in this.

To do a test you sign a piece of paper authorizing them to do the test and what/which test they are going to conduct.. just take the time to read the paper you signed..

It would be weird if they tested for roids, unless you were competing in pro sports or something. Depending on how big you are u know they were prolly thinking about it. If it was an office job why would they need to test roids?
