I've used Nizoral before when I was younger because I always had a really bad dandruff problem that I ruled out was genetic since my dad had it too. When I used it at that time, it actually seemed to make my dandruff problem WORSE about 4 months into using it. After not using it the dandruff problem went away and I had maybe a little dandruff but it wasn't like a snowstorm on a mid February day, which is what it was like when I used Nizoral. This was about 6 or 7 years ago.
5 months ago I started using Nizoral again but this time not for dandruff, but for it's DHT blocking properties on the scalp. I already have amazing hair genetics and I don't suspect myself having MPB (all my grandparents and my dad have great heads of hair and my hair is extremely dense as it is) but I always say you can never be too safe when it comes to blocking out the potential side effects of AAS.
For those of you who don't know how Nizoral works concerning dandruff, the active ingredient in it is an antibacterial and anti-fungal agent that is supposed to kill the fungi and bacteria that can cause dandruff. What I suspect is going on is one of two things: 1. that the active ingredient in Nizoral is causing the fungi/bacteria that causes dandruff to become resistant to it after a while and therefore immune, and the fungi/bacteria get even more out of control than before administering Nizoral. The second idea I have is that Nizoral blocks DHT, which would therefore in turn block the secretion of sebum (the oil that skin secretes as a result of DHT), and it's not keeping the skin on my scalp moist and thus the skin is drying up and dying.
So as I said it's been 5 months since using Nizoral again... and yup, dandruff has gotten a hell of alot worse. This is strange considering Nizoral is supposed to remove the dandruff problem, lol. I'm wondering if anyone else gets this issue?
