    sodium intake

How much sodium do you guys normally take in while bulking? Do you try and stay at the 2400mg level bc its my experience that this is damn near impossible. I have been trying to stay under 3000 and even this is a challenge.

Cutting the sodium is quite easy if you stay away from sauces and processed foods etc....many whole foods and veg are nearly sodium free. I do, but only when cutting, I get verry bloated from salt, and dairy for that matter, but thats a whole other thread. Cheers...

    ^^^ I agree with both

If you have the proper dieting mindset ingrained into you and eating clean becomes second nature, your salt intake should automatically be kept under control... I don't even bother monitoring mine...just make sure my water intake is up to par

    cheers

Yeah, I guess my main reason for concern is that I'm bulking right now and taking in around 4,000 cal a day and I figured my sodium intake was ok but after I started adding up all my sodium for the day I started to see that it was higher than I thought it would be. Just about everything has sodium in it and I never realized it(eggs, spinach, soy milk, chicken, tuna, etc.) These are all foods that are staples in my diet and when my caloric intake goes up my saodium goes up with it. No sauces or processed foods, I think main culprit might be bread and dairy. I had taken a liking to no salt turkey lunch meat sandwiches, a white bagel post workout and fat-free cottage cheese, but I'm guessing I just need to eliminate these. I drink an obscene amount of water, so I'm just gonna do away with the bread and dairy and see how it goes......I guess a better question would have been, is it ok for your sodium intake to increase proportionately to your caloric intake when you bulk.

Oh and the main reason that I even started to look at my sodium was that I have put on about 18lbs. in the first 2 weeks of bulking and although I'm not seeing a lot of bloat in my face or stomach, I know that there is a lot of water retention going on.
