    When your cutting, should you.....

avoid as much sodium as possible? or is sodium ok?

i wanna lean out as much as i can with summer coming up in another month so i was wondering, should i avoid as much sodium as i can to lean out?

or is sodium ok? im thinking sodium would be ok since it salt (duh) and it "dries" you out, meaning drying out the water in my body and making me get a dry tight packaged body type look.... or am completely wrong on this :-P

but yea.... if im trying to lean, is sodium ok? or limit my sodium very very low as i possibly can? i love beef jerky!! but it has like 1100mg sodium!! and i LOVE sushi !! but again, the soy sauce is ridiculous

so can yo uguys clear this up for me? thanks alot !!!!

Sodium is ok... doesn't have any effect on fat loss, just makes you hold a bit more water. Unless you're getting ready for a show or a photo shoot, its not a big deal.

Um... excess calories and poor macronutrient choices/timing (white carbs, saturated fats, sugary ass sodas, etc. etc) as well as a lack of exercise.

You are completely wrong on it. It will do the opposite. It will make you appear bloated not dry.

Increase sodium intake causes the kidneys to retain more water. It will cause a decrease urine volume and cause a more concentrated urine as water has to be reabsorbed by the kidneys to deal with the osmotic changes to the blood due to increase of sodium. Sodium is actively reabsorbed at the end of the kidneys which causes more water to move back into the blood.

Remember in the kidneys water freely filters out of the blood at one end as it enters the kidney, and then moves back at the end of the kidneys. Water that is not moved back to the blood is secreted with urea and moves to the bladder.

    That is an error.

Cutting sodium only has temporary cosmetic benefit.

    Very temporary...

Sodium is essential whether cutting or bulking.

    Sodium is ok.

But like everything else, it's counter-intuitive to consume it to excess.

    ^^This would constitute excess.

Won't reduce fat-loss... but will increase water retention.
