I went with LCD since plasma's are too risky. I read that plasma break a lot. My parents have a plasma and within 2 years time it needed to be repaired 3 times. I even read that some manufactures are even going to be discontinuing the production of them for this very reason.

plasma's can have issues with stuff burning onto the screen it's mostly fixed with the recent models. it's more of an issue with games and when stuff gets left on the TV... What size of Tv were u looking into?

pretty big...it's going in my living room. seems these new tv's are put on an assembly line and massed produced. i have heard from a lot of people about them breaking and needing to be repaired. they just don't make them like they used to.

Good ol' CRT screens give the best picture, and the best viewing angle. Plus they last longer.

I'm told that a lot of people are returning their barely-used CRT HD sets for the more fashionable LCD sets, and if you don't want a big TV and don't mind one that weighs about 200 lbs, you can get one of these for cheap.
There's a couple 30" TV's in the Dallas area for less than $200 on eBay. More elsewhere. Cheap. Nobody want's 'em because they're heavy (not a problem for a lifter, eh?)

I have a 50 inch Pioneer Elite Plasma and love it. Best picture I've seen. I also just bought a 42 inch Panasonic plasma that's being delivered on tuesday, got it on special at best buy for 800 bucks.

what makes the HD CRT's have the best picture?

I know about the viewing distance with HDTV's. The ideal range is only a few feet.. Based on the size of your screen

Did you just link a TV you're trying to sell? haha JK bro..

I sell these for a living, right now the BEST panels are being made by samsung. So go with a samsung. They have a better LCD panel and a better color chip in them. Plus they are a good deal.

I've read pros and cons on everything. Think I am going with a plasma. Seems they are better in bigger sizes and and a little cheaper. and unless you are playing a lot of gaming, which I'm not, you don't have to worry about burn outs.

Plasmas show duller colors better than a DLP. I have a DLP in my basement and my dad has a Plasma on the wall upstairs. When it comes down to it just make sure you get a good brand. Sony, Samsung. . .ETC. They are all good

I've been thinking about buying one for a long time just for the same reasons you listed. Which one do you have? I'll probably buy one sometime this summer since the prices are finally affordable for a decent one.

Yeah Ive been waiting for the HD ones to come down in price. Some are pretty decent and only around a grand or so. I've even seen a good Toshiba one on sale at Best Buy for 650.
