    little update

i guess i could consider these before pictures..havent been lifting with weights at all..literally all ive done is use a 20 lb dumbell for some curls an alot of pushups..havent trained traps or back or shoulders in over a year..(recovering from injury) anyway for the last 6 weeks ive been back doing pushups and shit..its cut some weight off me, im down to 212 lbs, so ive lost like 30 lbs since i stopped going to the gym, but i have alot less bodyfat.
sorry for the quality of the pics, all i have is a webcam right now.
im 24 yrs old. weight is around 210-212, dont know any other stats.
anyway heres a couple pics. sorry about the webcam. i think im gonna diet down to under 200, ile get a better cam by then.

took this today without a pump or anything..havent trained since the day i took the pics. i recover very slow having a nagging injury so i can only train a few times a week.

a shot of my back...the only work my back has really gotten is from pushups...but i try and squeeze my lats on ever rep.
if youre wondering what all the wierd dark tone all over ym back is, its uh...hair. was gonna shave it, as i have before, but i didnt have someone at my disposal at 2 am to do it.

thank mayn...i got a bad viral infection, over 2 years ago now...that kept me out of the gym for over a year...then i came back, pushed it too hard, too soon, and tore an abdominal muslce..well its a hiatal hernia i guess, i tore it in my upper abdomen wall, like where your diaphragm is. hurts when i breath deep or stretch out. its obviously effecting hte way i train, but you'd be surprised at what pushups and curls can do if you put your mind into it.

hey thanks man..im not cycling anything..ive never done any steroids. my body just keeps muscle very well..i used to powerlift and always trained extremely heavy..ive had my chest well over 50 inches, and my arms almost 21(both at a higher bf)..muscle memory is definately playing a part in my gaining this much in 6 weeks just doing pushups and shit but it seems once i reached a certain size, my body jsut wont get small again. its just the way my metabolism works. the day i went back in the gym after a over a year off i layed down and benched 225 over 20 times..so my natural body comosition has definately changed alot...i could never be 165 lbs again(the weight i was when i started training) anyway thanks for the props man

I think the greatest thing about you and this thread is in the fact that you faced your obstacles (not being able to train) in a stride and didn't give up on yourself. It is a valuable lesson to all of us that at sometimes or the other, something WILL go awry healthwise and we will be required to spend months outside our favorite activity ... which is important for total recovery.. and yet despite that, we should not lose the motivation and patience to jump back on the horse and keep on ploghing ahead even if we moved back a few paces...

and you look huge... you'll be putting all of us to shame in no time .. thanks for the inspiration

    cheers

im 24. i have some pics from when i was 21 on this site too, i started working out when i was 19. ive thought about bodybuilding but i wouldnt want to go through the diet...and my job would suffer bigtime. a couple years ago i was about to start cycling but then i got f'd up, and that kind of changed my perspective on things..so i couldnt see myself hittin the darkside anymore.

hey man, thanks..it was so, so hard not being able to work out..you realize how important something is to you when its taken away...im miserable when im not working out..honestly there was a point where i thought ide never be able to hit the gym again. i seriously almost cried my first workout back. it was like i had been dead for a year, and got the air back in my lungs for the first time since getting ****ed up. feeling that tension on my muscles, having them all swell up again and make my skin feel like it was gonna split...it was literally the first time i felt alive in a year. im not saying its the only thing in the world that makes me happy..but i missed it so bad, i just dont feel complete when im not working out. and it sucks being out of shape when its out of your control. i didnt get lazy, or lose inspiration...i just couldnt work out. my emmune system was too weak hell some days i could barely eat. im grateful it happened tho. it put me into the direction of my new carreer as a tattoo artist, which im extremely grateful for..but ontop of that it taught me how easy it is to take what you love for granted. like i am sooooo ****in grateful, to be able to do this again. like now, when i work out its like ****in serenity..the feeling i get is so overwhelming, that i can even appreciate it being taken away, because i could have never understood the gratitude i feel now for being able to do this. anyway thanks for the props man, it means alot. you f'n shredded animal. lol

    Hi Dude,
Good to learn a few things about you. You're always positive and say nice things to everyone from what I've noticed.
We're the same height! I've got another 5 inches to go to have your arms. And your tri's are fekin HYYOOOGE. What am I saying...your all massive.
When I saw the photos at the top I thought you must have done some serious amount of gear before your lay-up. When I read you'd done none I nearly fell of the chair! Holy Cow. That's some wicked genetic base you have there bro.
20lb Dumbells are nothing - just shows that theres a lot to be said for not always training heavy - Just work the muscle. maybe we're all overtraining.
Anyway - All the best Tank. Keep us updated on your progress mate.

hey thanks for the kind words man i appreciate you taking the time to write that. ive got a ton of respect for anyone who puts in alot of time and effort in the gym, and i find alot of people dont give themselves enough credit/respect. i try and make sure i give props to anyone who is busting thier ass to look the way they do, or has the potential to be big and jsut doesnt know it. i would have never set foot in a gym if my brother didnt convince me that i could completely change the way i looked..so i know how important that reassurance can be. and your totally right about training man..i would have thought you needed heavy weight to gain because thats all i used to lift...but if you can use that mind/muscle connection and feel your reps and still train as hard as possible with the weights you can, you can definately put on some quality size. im not saying its a substitute for heavy lifting completely..but what ive learned, is above anything, consistancy is the most important. even if it means you are just doin pushups or body weight exercises, its amazing what you can gain/maintain if you just exercise regularly and as hard as you can. anyway thanks again man, and keep kickin ass yourself..been following your new cycle log, pumped to see your after pics!

i dont have any genetic condition, i know i was blessed genetically, but im not flex wheeler either. you have to consider the fact that i was big before. its not like i jsut started working out..muscle memory is playing a big factor in me gaining this much in a few weeks. anyway thanks for the props brutha!!

thanks for the responses/encouraging words guys, it means alot. get to train again tomorrow after a few days off because of a cortisone shot. im gonna try and find a way to work around the injury and get some back/shoulder training in and even out my proportions a little. im down to 204 now, so ive gotta up my calories a little to slow my wieght down as ide like to hold up at 200 and just lean out a little untill i can get into some more serious training. anyway thanks again everybody. ile update this thread as i progress.

damn man i cant beleive you can retain that size and mass at only 2800 cal a day, that is ill. Especially at 5'6" and not training for a year.

What kind of viral infection did you have? I have yet to receive any injuries/illness that keep me down for more than a week... knock on wood...

You say you dont do AAS, but i bet you could get pretty ripped and hard just with some AI's if thats the kinda genetics you have.

    thanks tadpoleboyy,
i had a viral infection in my left lung..i had broncitis when it was going around and my compromised emune system picked it right up. it actaully killed a couple people in the ottawa area(elderly) so it was a serious bug.
if i hadnt gotten sick i was fully planning on doing a cycle..but having my health taken away changed my perspective on my life, and what i put into my body that can risk it. ide be lying if i said i didnt still think about it..i can only imagine what a pump feels like mid cycle, but i know for sure i will stay natty after the experience ive had.ive never heard of taking only AI's before, but i guess i can see the logic in it when i think about it..im extremely careful with what i put in my body now tho and keep it natural, i wont even take an aspirin, so if i wanted to get more cut ide just try to with a strict diet. i know my genetics are more ideal for putting on muscle then taking off fat, but i think if i really gave it 100% strict i could get decently cut. lol well i hope anyway.
thanks again for the encouragement bro.
    peace
    tank
