question about lexapro

I just found out that my dad was prescribed Lexapro. He binge drinks 3-4 times a week. My question is does anybody have any experience using Lexapro? How are the sides? Since he drinks that much, will that cause him problems other than the problems with drinking?

I want to confront him about this. Actually I've been wanting to confront him about a lot of issues lately.

There is no drug interaction, but almost all drugs recomend not drinking alcohol to excess, lexapro isn't any different. I'm sure it isn't helping his depression, just guessing that's what he's taking it for. Try to get him to slow down if you can.

It's not safe to drink when taking anti depressants. Alcohol is a depressant in the first place, and he's taking Lexapro to chemically balance his brain and the alcohol will screw all of that up. Everyone reacts differently so it's hard to say what will really happen, the most common thing that can happen is that the lexapro will intensify the effects of the alcohol causing him to a drunken stupor of sorts. It's not healthy and at the beginning stages of the chemical alteration process it will be even more detrimental because the meds are basically competing with the alcohols chemical effects.

Only issue I really have is it takes a LOT longer to orgasm.. and sometimes i dont even cum

I've had the same problem on Lexapro. Sometimes I also feel like I am speeding, but the most annoying thing is not being able to finish when with a chick. I also have had headaches and allergy symptoms from the Lexapro.

The sides past for me. Your doctor can perscribe wellbutrin to help you orgasum. The neg. sides took about a month to pass and all is good for me now.

Dude be easy. Lex has fewer side affects than nearly any ssri out there. Not only that but it actually works great for a lot of people.

The bottle says "do not mix with alcohol" but honestly thats really only for the first few weeks youre on it. It *may have drowsy side affects at first, which can intensify the affects of alcohol.
Also for some people later down the road (people who drink to get hammered) I read that theres like an earlier black out stage.
Like if he drinks 14 beers and blacks out, it might only take around 9-10 to black out.

As far as a few beers, its only slightly noticeable at first, then later on you really can't tell at all.

I had serious sides the first maybe 2 months, week 3 being the worst. But after month 3 they all dissappeared, and now a year later the Lex works better than anything in the world. I have no problems ejaculating.

The only thing I'd ever worry about, is for some people Lex increases impulsive activities. Like gambling, sex, and drinking. So if he has an issue drinking, there is potential Lex may increase the frequency that he drinks.

I would not tell him about this unless you see it happening first. Just telling people side affects can create all sorts of weird placebo shit to start going on. And if he likes drinking you really don't wanna give him an excuse to drink more.
