Your muscle(s) doesn't grow when you work it. It grows in the recovery phase. Abs could be worked every other day but that's just my opinion.

It just seems like all the guys that are huge at my gym are in there every damn day and not that I follow there workouts or anything but Ive noticed some doing the same exercises 2 days in a row ( usually on the dumbbells ). Does the bigger your muscles get = the faster they recover?

    oh my god. NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

even if they get bigger, they wont recover faster. steroids make muscles recover faster, and not even with steroids would u want to try the same muscle 2 days in a row. the key to big muscles is

    eat big
    lift big (low reps)
    rest big

    Copy that Stallion thanks :-)
1 more ? as dumb as it may sound...what do you consider low reps 10 or less? Ive been doing like 5 sets of 10 reps per exercise increasing 10lbs with each set. I think Im starting with too much weight as by the time I get to my 5th set Im burnt out by like maybe rep 5 or 6. Its mostly machines that Ive been using because unfortunately I just dont have anyone to work out with. All my friends live 20+ miles from me and Im sure theres nothing more embarassing ( or dangerous ) then benching free weight and not being able to make that last rep!

well u'r doing 5 sets with 10 reps each set, thats 50 reps. thats not low reps.

what i do is i do 3 sets.
    1 set 12 reps.
    2 set 8-9 reps
3 set 5-6 but this is by bar the heaviest, u can see veins poppin' out.when u put ur muscles under that much stress, they get stimulated, and when they rest they grow. when you do like 50 reps per muscle, ur not putting a lot stress, ull cut them up but there wont be much growth.

Ok so after 3 sets I should be done with that muscle or is it ok to work it again on a different exercise ( if its the same day of course )?
PS- if these questions are getting monatanous...youve already helped me a ton, so dont sweat it!

no, 'tis ok to do more. like for instance 3 sets of flat bench, 3 sets decline bench,2 sets incline bench, and like 2 sets of machine flyes.

look at this websites, it tells u workout programs fro beginner, medium, advanced lifters.

look at the stickies in this forum at the top and pick a workout routine that makes sense to you. I am guessing your diet needs as much help as your routine so go to diet forum too and look at stickies. Good luck bro
