    cardio after working out

so since i hurt my shoulder ive been adding cardio to my already limited workouts to shred some fat on my stomach and my legs, i never did ANY cardio before so any cardio for me is good and i feel a difference already, i do 5 minutes of high intensity on the gym bike BEFORE i work out just to get warmed up. then after i work out i do another 5-8 minutes of high intensity on the bike. im planning on upping the cardio after my work outs cause ive really leaped in my conditioning, but what i want to know, is after a work out, my muscles are starving for protien, but i want to burn fat in my cardio, so should i take a protien shake and BCAA's without any carbs before i start my cardio? cuase if i drink the carbs i wont be able to burn fat correct?

When i do cardio after weights I take in a scoop whey about 15 minutes before my cardio (so while i am wrapping up weights). Then i do my regular pwo shake

Good question, up till now I've been doing cardio as soon as I get to the gym then lifting after... This is the wrong way to do it isn't it? Not to hijack your thread but I think our questions are similar. I should move my cardio till after the workout, then I guess I would have the same question as you LOL

weightlifting is a question of strength. cardio will zap you of your strength so to do it before is counterproductive. cardio is a q of heartrate so weight training before is not going to hinder. also, weight training before increases the aamoount of fat you use during cardio

Makes sence. Thank you very much. That won't affect the time frame for PWO nutrrition though correct? Like Ray was wondering about: would we lift our weights, do our cardio and PWO nutrition once we're done with everything?

a few times i ran before i did my work out in hte past and my strength went way down cause i was already winded.now i just do a quick warmup before working out. and yea never do your full cardio before lifting weights.
the thing is that after we are done with the weights, the muscles are starving for protien, so should we wait on the protien til after the cardio and just take BCAA's then do the cardio?

I read that you have up to an hour to eat protien. carbs are another story, they need to be eaten in 20 min. this is according to "The testosterone Advangtage."

This is what I switched over too towards the end of my cut, lift, 10-15g BCAA's, 30 minutes low intensity cardio, then PWO nutrition...I had been doing AM fasted cardio prior to this....But yeah, def dont ever do cardio pre-workout, unless its just a really light, short warm-up. Depletes glycogen stores needed for lifting.

A lot of people say to do cardio before weights, as a warm-up. I like to do it at the end. To me, the weights are why I'm there, so I want to hit them when I'm at my strongest. If I do a half hour of cardio, I may be a bit tired and not get the same workout.

I'll do abs when I get in as the warm-up, and always have a good, light breakfast before.

I have been out for a bit, sorry all......Hard to say on the cardio, I dont think I was doing the PWO cardio long enough to make a distinction between the two. I will say that the obvious difference that I noticed was better lifting sessions when I didnt do AM cardio and more LBM retention...buuuuttt on the flip side, I feel that I burned more fat with the AM cardio...Its def a give and take, but like I said I didnt do the PWO cardio long enought to truly say which was more effective. I can tell you that when I start contest prep next Spring I will be using PWO cardio.
