    rest period between sets

just wanted to get some opinions

in doing my workouts, i ve changed my rest time to 30 seconds instead of a minute, doing 5 sets of 4 exercises. wears you out fast! so far im happy with it, i wanted to see what other members thought of such a short rest and if its beneficial to continue doing it for a long time?

I've never experimented with such short resting periods.
I rest a lot like 2-3 mins between sets (for big lifts) and like 4-5 mins between excercises. I rest 1-2 mins for isolation excercises or 1min if doing cables or some of that light stuff.

I'm usually around the 1 1/2 min to 2 min range unless I am going heavy or squatting which I usually take a little longer.

Oh and when I keep it closer to the 1-1/2 min mark, I don't lift nearly as much weight as I would with an extra 30+ secs of rest, but it does give me a better pump and always feel like I got a better workout the following day based on soreness.

Rest as long as you need to get the job done effectively, i.e, hitting all reps as intense as possible (for compound excercises I'd say 2-3 mins rest). So the quality of your set is as high as possible.
