Tamoxifen/Nolvadex..... hair and nail thinning after 6weeks of PCT..

Over the past 6 weeks during my PCT I noticed my hair getting thinner and more brittle... I also noticed that when I washed my hair in the shower and Id scrub the shampoo in my scalp that I kept bending my nails back and I also keep tearing my nails during everyday life activities... this has never happened before.... Also I noticed that I felt more fatigued than usual... I have pct'd before and yes I know that you get tired and fatigued while your test levels return but I have never felt like this before during pct... this is the first pct that I have used nolva..

I googled side effects of nolva/tamox and all the sites claim that hair and nail thinning should be expected... as well as possible fatigue...

has anyone else experienced this using nolva??

hhmmmm 1% niz?? maybe try and get some 2% it could just be a delay from the aas are you prone to mpb??

this is overall thinning (front, back, sides, top, etc....) no recession or balding... my hair has turned very dry, thin and strawlike texture... all happened in just 6 weeks.... like i said, after reading the side effects on the nolva/tomax site it states hair thinning and nail thinning.... the nail thinning is whats really giving me the belief that its from the tomax/nolva

    Hey big,

my pct was 6 weeks in duration in which i just finished up... my cycle that i was pct'ing from was test prop and NPP (14 week).... PCT consisted of hcg for first 3 weeks and nolva for entire 6 weeks @20mg ed....

I have pct'd many times before and occasionally went through some hair shedding, etc.... as the body tries to balance itself out but like I stated earlier I have never had overall thinning and texture change to my hair and nails as I did this time in pct......

Im just curious if anyone experienced this from nolva/tamox as well?

I had some overall hair thinning after a cycle of pct (designed only to keep test levels 40-50% above normal even in heavy training) The thing is that i dont remember it happening during the 'cycle'

This is a good point..... I had hardly any shedding and absolutely no hairloss during the cycle, its only after I started pct that I noticed the hair and nail problems.... like i said earlier, after researching tamoxifen and its side effects it clearly stated that a common side effect is overall hair thinning which is likened to what a premenopaosal woman would experience.... I thought originally i was just experiencing some post cycle shedding,etc.. while my body adjusted back to normal but when i started to notice my nails were getting weaker and ripping easier then i started to speculate it was something else.... basically everything that i am experiencing is stated as a general side effect of tamoxifen... so hopefully now that I stopped pct my hair will return/thicken back up......

all the anti es do that. But beware, because the studies that focus on this side effect find that it's AGA induced by estrogen deficiency. It happened to me, and I thought it was general thinning from the drug but it dawned on me that i was just being naive and fooling myself. Have some anti androgens available and really scrutinize the situation to be sure.

How long ago was your use of nolva and did you recover any thickness after stopping?

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but wondering what your results were after you went off your PCT billy, did your hair come back?

I shave my head so can't comment on the hair thinning but I did experience weakened nails. I noticed they bent easy if pushed on. They were not breaking but much softer/thinner then normal. I wasn't too concerned. Thought it was because I was off cycle (cruising actually). I was taking 20mg of nolva ED. Now that Im back on cycle my nails are as hard as.....nails.

I also have to trim my nails more when on cycle. Seems logical...

Once again, just like I mentioned to someone having a particular problem with nolva in another thread, this is probably a side effect that is specific to YOU personally.

Nolva can cause alot of side effects, but maybe only 2% of the population that uses it will experience a certain side effect, and you might just happen to unfortunately be in that 2% bracket.

Happens with everything. When using something (anything, even food) a small percentage of people will get side effects unseen anywhere else that is only a specific reaction with that person.

I have been shedding on my 6 week pct of nolva at 20mg/day. I am hoping it stops soon...maybe it is just normal to shed as the body balances itself back out? My PCT is over in 3 days...I'm hoping it stops!

    OP, are you stil shedding??

No I am not shedding anymore..... I shed for about another month after PCT and then it stopped completely..... all good now... I think its a normal thing to shed as your body's hormone levels adjust....

I just want to add that I think what also helped was that I became more diligent in using fish oil, zinc, vit c, vit d3, and b complex....

I'd say keep your hair short.....nizoral 3x a week max.....bioton (a form of b3) if it keeps up you could add some propecia....I like to use it EOD for a few months...then I stop....it helps

hey billy, how long did it take for your to recover from nolvadex usage. I'm going through the same thing as you and my hair is thinning bad. My last dose was March 09, 2009 and now I'm into July 2009 but my hair hasn't recovered. I'm worried. Please let me know when you started to see signs of recovery and did your hair get it's thickness back? thanks.
