    flax seed Oil

    I see flax seed oil as part of quite a few recomended diets in this forum. I went and bought a bottle of it and it smells and tastes like crap. Is this std or did I buy the wrong stuff?

    i always mix mine with protein shake ,,,,,tastes great,,,,bout 1 table spoon,,,,,

    i get the virgin oil my favorite for cooking chickem and meat.

    Don't use flax. just get fish oil and use olive oil with everything you cook. you can even throw some in your protein shake.

    do you throw the fish oil and olive oil in your protein??or did i understand wrong?

    na don't throw fish oil in the protein, I mean, u can, but don't. Buy odorless fish oil capsules. As far as olive oil, just throw a little olive oil in your protein shakes and cook everything in olive oil.

    if you mix the flax in your shake you wont even taste it. i take two tablespoons a day

    im not a huge fan of flax anymore because a recent study on it came out saying it can cause certain kinds of cancer, I believe it was prostate? Anyways, stick to fish oil.

    they say everything causes cancer these days.. i wouldn't worry about that, besides, they probably megadosed them on flax for entirely too long.

    the main point of it is to add some EFAs to a diet that is meant to be low in fat from food. most normal food has more saturated or polyunsaturated fats, whereas flax, fish, olive are all high in monounstaturated fats (the good stuff)

    polysaturated fats are good for you too. Olive oil is loaded with polysaturated fat. dont use flax when there are clear and better alternatives. its like using rocks instead of dumbells to do curls.

    i disagree. I have read studies saying flaxseed oil is in fact better than fish oil. To tell you the truth alot of people take both fish oil and flaxseed. From what ive read the flaxseed is more effective and you dont need the fish oil.

    I just read my ass off about this topic, and there was a Korean study and a study in Uruguay that concluded ALA and flax-seed causes prostate cancer. But As I read more in depth, the American Dr. who wrote the article said he still doesn't believe it causes cancer, he think it was a more "ALA/Flax seed was just at the scene of the crime" rather than the thing that caused the cancer. So until a concrete American study comes out, i'd say keep using it.

    I don't know what to think about it, but i'd rather take odorless fish oil capsules and eat with a ton of olive oil because I love olive oil. I won't be taking flax, but there are studies that suggest evidence on both sides of the isle, so do what you guys want. I'm personally going to stick to the fish oil and olive oil.
