I go in front, to the rear will work out different part of delt but you are really tweaking the rotator. IMO if you go light in rear and carefully watch your form you should be ok. When i say form i mean making sure your elbows arent flaring out in front of you and remain well balanced and even with the weight. You will see pros going behind but even they admit its dangerous.

In front usually, but I dont really do the bar since on dumbells you can put it right where you need it to get the best effect.
front. always. if not Dbs. If not machine. never back.
do behind the back on the smith machine, with db i do about even with my ears
