    post work out shake...when do u take it?

    okay guys iam just curious to know when do you drink your post w shake, is it after u get home from your work out, or u make it and drink it in the gym?

    I take my pwo shake when i get home, it takes me 2mins to get home..

    I take mine straight after and at the gym. So do the majority of people when im working there too!

    i remember someone posting some kinda study about the timing of pwo nutrition and it determined that there was no diff in subjects who drank there shake immmediately after there workout or an hour later. so with that in mind i drink mine when its convenient and/or w/e i feel like it, lol.

    I used to get home an drink it, like 15 minutes later.... havent noticed any difference

    i used to drink my apon leaving the gym..
    but now i cant even stomach it...
    i literally throw up or feel like shit if i dont.

    if im using slin then i walk straight to my car after lifting and shoot the slin then down the shake. either case i drink my shake as soon as im done

    I drink it in the car on the way home.
    I also eat a rice cake with it for some PWO carbs.

    Straight away with 3 snake lollies, i save whole foods for when my pump has gone a bit, bout 30-40mins later.

    straight after the gym, and if im doing a big shock session lasting over an hour, on the hour mark ill start sipping a shake every now and then until workout is over then have full shake.

    My cousin who is an amateur bodybuilder sips on his "PWO shake" throughout his workout. He says that "by the time I'm done training, the goodness is already in me". I've never given this a try, I like to stick with things that are tried and true.

    I dont do protein shakes...

    I get home and eat chicken and rice. I am usually starving by the time I get home even though I ate chicken and rice before the workout as well....IF I am not starving after my workout is done, I will be within 20 minutes.

    If he drank it whilst working out then wouldnt that make it a workout shake?? And not a pwo shake..

    I'm leaning that way now too BG, I very recently quit shakes altogether as an experiment. It's only been 3 days but I'm looking forward to seeing better results. Every single aspect including macros is the same as it was. So I'll be interested to note the difference it makes.

    i drink mine right after my work out. i work out serious "not that most of you don't" my muscles get depleted of glycogene quickly so i need to restore it as quickly as possible.
    i am hearing some amazed stuff, some are saying u don't need it some say just eat food well from what i know and learned you need a fast digesting shake right after work out.
    i would love to hear from some people that can prove to me that food only is enough, well it will take forever to digest and get the things u need right the way.

    Right after my work out I go straight protien, 30 min later protien/small carb(starch potatoe) then in an hour after that protien with high GI carb (sweet potatoe). Works well for me.

    my shake consist of protein and carbs like waxymaize, sometimes i use bannna or apples to get the carbs i need 30 min later comes my meal.

    since when are sweet potatos high GI? they are high molecular weight and a great carb source, but i've never heard of them being high GI


    just checked, they are between 50-60 GI

    I usually have a couple red potatoes because they're kind of a mid grade GI.

    Starch potato isn't necessarily a sweet potato is it? I thought all potatoes had starch....

    i start drinking mine maybe 10-15minutes before i leave the gym, it goes thru ya pretty quick so by the time i get home and cook im ready to eat again.

    I like to eat whole foods after I work out. I actually pound a shake on the way to the gym though. I don't know why I do that though, I started doing it about ten years ago and it became habit.

    I try to get my PWO within two hours after training, Most of the research i have seen seems to point out that you have a two hour window without protein synthesis being negatively effected. Having said that it depends on what my goals are. If i am bulking and I can get a meal in immediately then I will. If I am cutting or lean bulking then I Like to wait an hour after I finish training to take advantage of raised adrenaline levels and increase in fat oxidation PWO. I will usually take in some protein with little to no carbs at all when cutting. As Insulin will shutdown the fat burning process in adipose tissue as soon as it hits your system.

    see with me...if i am not getting whole food in me within 30 minutes....I am so hungry that it actually hurts and I feel like absolute hell and cant function.
