    HaHa!

Don't you just love how you "must" believe the Holocaust is 100% truth, if you say different you will be forced to say it.

What a ****ing joke...Germany alone has been so overrun and brainwashed that the mere mention of saying anything as little as "I don't think the Nazi's intentionally set out to kill 6 million Jews" means your ass. haha

There have been reports of alof of the so called "gas chambers" not existing etc...

You gotta laugh at the German Chancellor "The pope and the Vatican must make absolutely clear that there can be no denial of the Holocaust".

So much for ones own opinion.

    Peace be unto you.

I don't have much of an opinion about laws that prohibit Holocaust denying. I could care less either way about that.

Having said that, I always advise against denying the Holocaust. Almost all (if not all) of the arguments used to deny it are spurious at best. I would say that the Holocaust deniers fall into two groups:

    (1) The first group are those who are either anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli/Zionists, so they have a bias going in; they want to believe that the Holocaust didn't happen, so any proof presented to them that validates this belief becomes a great proof for them. It is no different than how any "proof" that defends Israel will become the greatest proof of all to Zionists, no matter how spurious. So the matter is the same with those who deny the Holocaust because they have that bias going in. Instead of looking at the evidence and *then* forming an opinion, they first form an opinion and *then* look at the evidence to "generate proofs" to validate their preconceived beliefs.

    (2) The second group are those who may not be anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist, but they are mostly simpletons who are easily impressed by conspiracy theories. It is very easy to fool such people, by presenting "evidence" in a certain way. Many of these people also believe in Free Mason conspiracy theories, such ideas that 6000 Jews didn't come to the WTC the day of the 9/11 attacks, the Amero currency, etc. Because they are simpletons and are usually not well-read, they are easily swayed, so you will see them jumping from one conspiracy theory to another. A youtube video is all that is needed to convince such a person.

So yeah, I do have a problem with Holocaust deniers. Would I pass a law to prohibit it if I was the leader of a country? I probably would, as a matter of respecting the sensitivities of the Jews. I understand a lot of die-hard first amendment people would say that such a thing will lead to a Gestapo state, but I think that this is a huge stretch; I really don't think it has to be all or nothing. I also believe in prohibiting ku klux klan and NOI members from spewing forth their racist vitriol. But I understand that others would disagree with this and think it to be a great affront to the freedom of speech; I respect their opinion on the matter--I just disagree. Wallahu Aalim.

I agree, it is wrong to force anyone to say/believe anything, even for ignorant people. I cant access this link, but I assume this is to do with Merkel attacking the Pope over pardoning Richard Williamson on his claim that the Holocaust can never happened?

How anyone can even entertain the thought that that dark abomination on the stain of human history, didn't happen, is ludicrous. Williamson has reportedly said that "not one Jew died in a gas chamber" (The Independent, 4 Feb, pg. 19).

Benedict is another idiot still living 500 years in the past.

If religion is to survive, it needs more men like Pope John XXIII, 50 years ago who exclaimed that the Catholic Church must read the signs of the time. The world moves on, nothing will change that. When humanity as a whole learns to move on when the world moves on, maybe then there'll be some hope for all of us.

Yes, that is a good point. May God save us from committing injustice with our tongues.

How about that freedom of speech?

People should be free to deny the holocaust if they so choose.

Im just gonna give this thread a lil bump, because its occured to me that as important as freedom of speach really is..does that just give anyone the green light to say what they like? People forget that even though we live in a democratic society, you cant just go and do anything you want. That's why we have laws.

In a slightly different sceanario, we have a few fanatical Muslim clerics (UK) that every week spout hatred to the West, encourage/urge terrorist attacks and incite hatred and fear. Personally in this case, I think these people should be arrested because they are abusing a right.

Living in a democracy is not the same as "doing what you want", otherwise every murderer could plead the case that he/she was exercising their freedom of choice.
