hey all...purchased an 2003 audi a4 3.0 quattro a couple months ago and i need a oil change but when i bought it i didnt get the manual and therefore do not know what type of oil to use...i need to get this oil change asap because if i dont take care of the car my warranty will not be good...thanks all

When you go to the mechanic/jiffy lube/penziol or any oil change place they'll look it up in there computer and give you a recommendation for the type of driving that you do, or for the climate, ie hot or cold weather.

yep just take it to a shop and get the oil changed, they will know what to do. just for kicks, ask them a steroid question while you're there.

usually 10w-30 works for most cars (almost any kind will do)
motorcycles like 15w-50 sometimes
my car has a turbo so I put mobil 1 in it
turbo's get hot and after you turn the car off the oil can sit in the turbo and sludge
more a problem for older jap turbo's but anyway sythetic is good and you can run more miles in between oil changes. It's just way more expensive. If you're gonna do it every 3k for a non turbo car you can't really go wrong...new filter and any brand of 10w30.

Kratos knows what he is talking about. It depends also on what part fo the US you live in. As the different weights of have different effects on the Shear rating and the cold start conditions.

I would go with a 10W30 or a 5W40 depending on your weather conditions etc. If it's a turbo get a fully synth oil and a good brand too like Mobil One or the likes.

if they give you a hard time about oil change records for waranty claim you'd be hard pressed to satisfy them unless you have all the work done at an audi dealer $$$. They get about $75 for an oil change where I live.

I used to get my oil changed at Hoffmann Audi in New London. Cost me 105$ for my '02 Audi. Once it got out of warranty (just this past September) I started chainging my own oil for 25$

to the OP, They say only to use fully synthetic oil for Audi's, which if you bought your CPO then you might still be under warranty and anything other then Full-synthetic will void it. Go to Auto Zone, they can get you the right filter and oil to use
