    which cardio bike

    hi,

im looking at buying a cardio bike, so i can increase my cardio, do it before work etc, as the gym is a 40min walk..and sometimes due to the hours i work (no fixed hours) i cant get to the gym

    Just a few questions,

what type of resistance is best? fly wheel/belt/magnetic - or would it all be the same

and lastly when it says max user weight 110kg, is this a guideline or will it actually break if someone > 100kg sits on it!!!

    thanks

good questions: just so i can answer correctly -

1- are you going to buy a whole bike or do you just want the thing that your rear tire sits on?

    2- how big are you?

-fly wheel can be loud (hard to watch tv) but you get a very good "feel" from a fly wheel
-belts wear out, so if your not mechanical maybe not a good idea
-magnetic good choice quite, ok "feel" the device can get hot (l have one of these and use it all the time)

as for a weight limit - i would follow it, it your close to it i would think it would just wear out faster

    thanks for the reply

i was thinking of buying a whole bike

    2, im about 235lb atm

    3. the bike would be kept in the garage, with no tv, just a music player, stereo or something cheap

good point about he belts wearing out!

so i should follow the weight advice , i wondered if it was juat a safety thing, like 'display until' on food-whereby the food is fine after this date etc

    thanks mate

    good question-but there's a few reasons

the roads/pavements are pretty uneven, and i don't want to slip/sprain my ankle etc

as to the run to the gym or cycle, agaoin i would-but if i run to the gym, i then have to get back..the reason I wanted a bike, was for the times i cant get to the gym

I work nights, sometimes I finish at say 6am, and I am back in for 5pm
by the time i have got up, made my food etc, I don't have time to go to the gym and then walk to work , if i could i woild

finally, cycling..I would LOVE to cycle, cycle to work etc, but the roads are just far far too dangerous mate, too many drivers on the road, people speeding etc

    thanks

I got a spin bike for my garage to change up the cardio at times...

some good brands worthy of buying are the startrac, schwinn, and lemond.

well they make the bikes for the average cyclist (130 - 155 lbs) guys like you and me dont fit that mold... getting a good mountain bike on ebay or somehting is a good idea then buy a training stand to put it in to... that way on nice days ride to the gym in 30 min then ride home 30 min -

also, on bad days just clip it in to you home trainer and spin away...

    magnetic is what i prefer

o ya - look for an old spin bike from a local gym you can get on for like 50 - 200 bucks if your lucky
